Meet the Teacher

This afternoon was Meet the Teacher at Gracie's new school.  We were instantly impressed with Gracie's new teacher, Mrs. Bertel.  Gracie gave Mrs. Bertel a special card and necklace that she made and then the two of them went on a classroom scavenger hunt.

Gifted and talented.  We couldn't agree more!

After lunch, the kids have a thirty minute rest time.  I found this "I Spy Quilt" for Gracie at the Etsy.com store, Sew In Love.  I chose orange and yellow so that hopefully Gracie can pass the quilt down to Nate when he's in Kindergarten.  We love it!

The classroom is great!  It has it's own bathroom and a door which goes directly out to the Kindergarten playground.

She was very eager to try everything in the room, including the sink.

The kids each picked their own cubby to hold their school supplies.

Gracie's Cubby.
Gracie's teacher wrote "Grace" on all of her belongings and in different areas of the classroom.  Gracie was quick to tell Mrs. Bertel that her name is not Grace, it's Gracie!  After spending a few minutes with the very enthusiastic and excited Gracie, Mrs. Bertel said... "She is indeed a Gracie, not a Grace."

Reading nook and doors to the Kindergarten playground.

Fly!  Gracie Mae.  Fly!

"...Parents must give their children two things: roots and wings.  Give them roots to keep them grounded through tough times.  Give them wings to soar above everything, explore new worlds and fly farther than we ever did."  (Hodding Carter)
